Care | Maintenance | Installation

PlankTops have been stained, mottled, antiqued, glazed and hand polished to bring depth and artisanal beauty to each finish. Although they are protected with a clear coat and wax, they are still susceptible to wear and damage from their environment.

CARE. Care for your PlankedTop by dusting regularly with a clean, soft cloth. Don’t use feather dusters. They scatter the dust rather than collect it and broken feathers may scratch the surface.

MAINTENANCE. Maintain PlankedTops by controlling their environment.  Place PlankedTops where relative humidity, temperature, light and ambient air quality can be controlled and stabilized.  Avoid placing near heaters and air conditioning units to prevent over-drying or exposure to excessive moisture. Avoid extreme humidity changes in your home, as extremely dry air can cause wood to crack and lacquer to lift or blush. High temperatures associated with high relative humidity will speed oxidation and deterioration of a finish. Avoid direct sun light or exposure to high UV light sources. Do not place/leave hot or moist objects directly on the wood. Rubber or plastic left on the wood finish can also damage the finish.

CLEANING. Clean by using a dry or slightly damp, clean, soft cloth. Follow by polishing with a clean, dry soft cloth. Do not use commercial, heavy-duty polishes or waxes, as they can yellow light finishes. Do not use any alcohol or solvent based cleaners, they will dissolve, stain or lift finishes.

We recommend that any damaged, stained or soiled PlankedTop finish be professionally cleaned or refinished.

INSTALLATION. Due to variation of design, sizes, complexity and materials used in the fabrication of a customer’s own table base, PlankedTop is unfortunately unable to assist in the orchestration or engineering of placing or attaching a PlankedTop to a customer’s own table base.  We recommend using a professional receiving warehouse or craftsperson to assist with the installation/attaching of your PlankedTop to your base.
